How to Celebrate Galentine’s Day 2021

Popularized by the television show Parks and Recreation 11 years ago, the tradition of Galentine’s Day is a celebration of love between friends that falls the day before Valentine’s Day, on February 13. This year’s Galentine’s Day will be one like no other, and we’re counting the ways you can celebrate the gal (or guy) pals in your life! 

Host a Virtual Get-Together

This year, Galentine’s happens to fall on a Saturday, which is the perfect time to get together for a call. Invite your gal pals to get together at lunchtime for a virtual cocktail party. You can even decorate your background a little with some heart-shaped stickers or a banner to help make things festive. Arrange for all the girls to wear pajamas or dress in their fanciest outfit. For fun, have everyone tell a story about their worst (or best!) Valentine’s Day date. 

Dress for the Occasion

Just because you’re not going on a date on Galentine’s Day doesn’t mean you can’t dress up! With occasions to go out and be fancy were few and far between in 2020, Galentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to put on a fancy outfit for your virtual party, or just for wearing around the house! You can also don your girliest, pinkest cardigan and a pair of heart-shaped earrings as you go about your day. Festive and fun, looking the part will help you feel like you’re celebrating the holiday without going too over the top. 

Reach Out to a Friend 

The year 2020 shook up everyone’s life, and some people had to make drastic life changes, such as changing jobs or moving to a new location. Change like that inevitably leaves friendships in limbo, but it doesn’t have to mean the end. If you have a friend you haven’t seen in a long time or are just wanting to connect with a gal pal who doesn’t live near you, show her you care by sending a text, emailing her a virtual card or even putting a Valentine in the mail for her. This small token of friendship appreciation will go a long way to keeping the two of you close despite distance and time.
