Smyrna was founded in 1872 and has a long and rich history. The Smyrna History Museum is located inside a reconstructed historic train depot from 1910 and is the perfect place to learn about Smyrna's past. Exhibits begin when the Smyrna area was the ancestral home of northern Georgia’s Native American peoples and continues through the Civil War period to the present day.
Golfers of all skill levels will enjoy the challenging and pleasant 62-par executive-style Cagle Course at Fox Creek Golf Course, which is located on the northern outskirts of Smyrna. This is one of the finest places to tee off in metro Atlanta, thanks to holes created by Larry Nelson and John LaFoy. The range features a 100-tee driving course that is partially illuminated at sunset, allowing you to practice your swing day and night. The Golf Range Association of America has ranked it as one of the top 50 public driving ranges in the US.
